Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele
WSS President (Fondazione Roma, Italy)

Born in Palermo in 1937, Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, Supreme Court lawyer, economist, banker and expert in financial and tax issues, is a Professor of Public Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, of which he is also Vice Chairman, Professor Emeritus at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid and Member of the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Civitas Lateranensis that promotes and supports the Pontificia Università Lateranense. He currently chairs the Fondazione Roma, the Fondazione Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana and the Fondazione per lo Sviluppo Economico, Culturale e Sociale del Mediterraneo (Foundation for the economic, cultural and social development in the Mediterranean) and is Honorary President of the Orchestra Sinfonica della Fondazione Roma. During his career he has held several offices as Chairman, Member of the Board and Advisor in both public and private Italian and international leading institutions and companies. Author of essays on the subject of law, finance and politics, the following books have recently been published: Stato e cittadino. La rivoluzione necessaria (1996); L'imposizione dei redditi di capitale delle persone fisiche residenti nei paesi dell'Unione Europea (1997); Il non profit strumento di sviluppo economico e sociale (2001); Il ruolo dell'impresa pubblica: un dibattito ancora aperto; Le vicende dell'impresa bancaria (2002); Un modello per la soluzione del Welfare (2002); Evoluzione e vicende delle Fondazioni di origine bancaria (II edition 2006). Moreover, Professor Emanuele has received numerous awards, even on an international level, for both his academic activities and his constant attention to philanthropic and humanitarian issues.
 

Giuseppe De Rita
WSS Secretary-General (Censis, Italy)

Giuseppe De Rita has been President and Secretary-General of Fondazione Censis since 1974. He is also President of the Le Monnier publishing house since 1995. He previously has been President of the National Council of Economics and Labour (CNEL, a Constitutional body) from May 1989 until May 2000.

Giuseppe Roma has been Director-General of the Censis Foundation (Research Centre on Social Investments) since 1993, General-Secretary of dell'Associazione per le città italiane RUR - Rete Urbana delle Rappresentanze (Urban Network for Local Development) since its foundation in 1989,Vice-President of Rome Trade Fair spa, and Professor of Urban Management at the Third University of Rome, Faculty of Architecture, since 1997. He recently published L'Economia sommersa (2001) and La ricchezza del territorio italiano (2004).
